Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer(tm)
Ok here goes
My Reason to ride for this amazing cause is for my beautiful mum.
My mum lost her battle with this nasty disease in november 2017 a week after my niece was born( we believe mum was hanging into meet willow). Mums story with cancer started when she was 37 and diagnosed with bowel cancer, I was 12 (the eldest of 3 girls) and I don't have much memory at all of what mum went through, watching it happen again I now know why as a child I blocked that memory out. She had half her large intestine removed and recovered well which resulted in no cancer being found.
In 2016 the cancer was back. 20 years later mum started being unwell with different symptoms to her previous tumour she didnt think that it was anything. She had a few Doctors visits that led to referals to see specialists many test came back inconclusive, eventually months later and mum getting weaker the result that we didn't want to hear but thought it might be ITS BACK. She had treatment (3mths of chemotherapy) but it was still growing so the T word (terminal) was used to describe where she was at.
We are a very close family so it hit us ike a ton of bricks, dad gave up work to be her primary carer she fought so hard but eventually lost her battle.
My mum was a fighter and never let anything get in her way. She left behind a loving husband 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters. This 200km ride is my biggest challenge yet but im more determined than ever to conquer my fears and ride for my beautiful mum.
