Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer™
Welcome to my Personal Page! Many of you reading this are probably unaware that I started cycling around 12 months ago in an effort to shed some kilos and improve my general fitness, Having not been on a bike for 20+ years it was quite a shock to the system. 1200 K's later I have decided to step things up a notch and challenge myself for a good cause.
Cancer has had a huge impact on the lives of my family and friends and is an ever present danger. I have lost grandparents, uncles, friends, watched those being treated suffer and bravely endure, and still to this day have close family and relatives experiencing the unfortunate difficulties it brings. Such is the prevalence, the discovery of a small (treatable) skin cancer last year came as no surprise to me at all.
SO...the time has come to sacrifice my dignity and don the lycra, sacrifice my backside by sitting in the saddle for 200km, and ride from Perth to Mandurah and back over one weekend 13/14th October. It may not seem a lot to some, but given my average distance is 15km, and my longest ride of 42km had me unable to sit comfortably for a few days, this will seriously challenge me.
One important question you may all be asking is how much of your donation goes to the cause. I have done my research and can confirm at least 99.5% of it goes straight there thanks to the generosity of hundreds of volunteers that help out with this event.
Appreciate anything you can give to support me and my backside. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Below a generic note from MACA:
